The Ultimate Moving Checklist for Dubai Residents

Four weeks before

• Confirm your new lease and Ejari registration.
• Book your movers and agree a moving date. Weekends and month-ends fill up fastest.
• Give notice on your current tenancy if required.
• Start decluttering. Sell or donate anything you will not take with you.

Two weeks before

• Apply for a move-out permit from your current building and a move-in permit for the new one.
• Book the service lift at both buildings and note the allowed moving hours.
• Schedule DEWA disconnection at the old address and connection at the new one.
• Update your address with your bank, employer, schools and delivery services.

One week before

• Confirm timings with your moving coordinator.
• Pack a first-night box with essentials: chargers, toiletries, bedding, kettle and basic tools.
• Defrost the fridge and freezer the day before the move.
• Photograph meter readings at the old address.

Moving day

1. Walk through each room with the crew lead before loading.
2. Keep documents, jewellery and valuables with you.
3. Check the inventory at delivery and note anything that needs attention.

After the move

• Collect your security deposit after the final inspection.
• Register your new address for internet, gas and other services.
